Hi Ruth,
It's good to see you on line again. I haven't been working on George W. much
for awhile, but I appreciated your sharing the 1880 Leon Co., Census.
District 2 Leon TX pg 133 B
E.A. McVey is Eugene Augustus (Gus) McVey and his wife Florence E. Noble
McVey (My gr. grandparents).
E.A. (Gus) is the son of George Washington and Mary Elizabeth Rhymes McVey.
District 87 Leon TX pg. 146C
William C. McVey is probably William Cordon McVey b 12-05-1846 another s/o
George Washington and Mary Elizabeth Rhymes McVey.
Alice McVey (Mary Alice) daughter of George Washington and Mary Elizabeth
Rhymes McVey married the hired hand Robert (Joel Robert) Leathers
12-22-1880.
It would appear we have George Washington McVey and sons, and Elijah McVay
and sons.It would seem odd for two McVey's close to the same age, living in
the same county and not be in someway related. I guess this is what makes
genealogy exciting.
