I just watched Mr. Roberts for the zillionth time. I love James Cagney!
But that is not why I email.

I recently sent an item on New Cathedral Cemetery about my wonderful visit
there. I also sent one on breaking through a stonewall finally.

In the latter I talked about reexamining all that you already have to find
the answers to your genealogical questions. Well, I need to also be more
careful when I visit cemeteries to see everything there is to see.

Luckily, I always take pictures when I go to cemeteries. I have a digital
camera and when I got home I immediately downloaded it to my computer and
copied off the dates and other information for my database. I like to print
a picture of the graves but I didn’t get around to doing that until today
over a week later.

As I watched them printing, the most amazing thing appeared in the pictures;
something I just hadn’t noticed in my thrill of finding their tombstones.
FLOWERS. Right there on the graves in a holder. FLOWERS. I didn’t put them
there. There is someone else out there visiting Frederick and Susan P. Rohr
Fischer. FLOWERS! Although artificial, they are very new. Maybe Mother’s
day??? Certainly this spring. FLOWERS!

Since my husband is 54 and this couple’s great-great-grandson, I am very
excited about finding another relative out there. Could this be a cousin we
don’t know? Of course but who???

Could it be any of you on the list? Frederick and Susan P. Rohr Fischer and
their unmarried daughter, Cecelia. Did you put the flowers on the grave?

I am going to check with the office Monday about any contact they may have.
I forgot to do this also in my excitement. Once before at Baltimore
Cemetery a distant cousin made a note in the file about visiting and
included their address and relationship. Again this was my husband’s family
but another branch.

After visiting that day, we decided to go by one of my cousin’s homes. My
husband didn’t know the way so I gave the directions. On turning off
Harford Road, my husband said, “Isn’t this the road where that person
lives?” It was! I found the house right at the end of the street where my
cousin lives. After our visit, I talked him into stopping at the house and
introducing ourselves. He was shocked that I would do it but I said what
could they do but tell us to go away. As it happened, they were into
genealogy and working on that very person’s file. They even had a picture
of him. Boy, did we have lots to share.

So now I have another tip that I broke at New Cathedral Cemetery—leave a
note in the file with contact information and look for any note someone else
has left or if the cemetery has a contact person. You never know what you
may find. Maybe even FLOWERS!

HEY whoever you are, I HAVE PICTURES of them and his mother, too!!!

Jane
