Hucksters drove though the streets and alleys selling fruit, vegetables, crabs et al. They used horse drawn carts and later pick up trucks. Did so in my neighborhood up into the 70's. Took the place of grocery stores and were well received by the ladies. We however called them often A-Rabs. No offense. Joan
