Subject: [MD-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Smuthers, native of Md, served at Yorktown

I am searching for early census, have no idea what county, on a William
Smuthers, could be Smithers/Smathers/Smeathers/Smothers too
this line used all spellings, and A CENSUS ON THIS GILBERT LECLERC but this
is what I have on him from a Ky Skaggs Record by Juanita Skaggs Luttrell...I
believe this to be my 5th gen grandfather...any information would be
appreciated, thank you.
"The other was WILLIAM SMUTHERS, a native of Maryland, who had served
in the Maryland Line during the Revolution, and became acquainted
with GILBERT LERCLERC at the seige of Yorktown. They came west together
and, on reaching Lexington, LECLERC left his wife in good hands until he
returned and he and SMUTHERS joined the party of land
hunters above mentioned."
