I found them in 1870 in Ohio but as Lou said they do not seem to be
listed anywhere in '50 and '60. (In fact, it is hard to find any Atzels
at all. There are a couple in PA in 1870.)

1870, 19th Ward, Cinn, Hamilton Co, OH
Louis 48, moulder, born Hesse
Margaret, 33, keeps house, Bavaria
Catherine, 14, seamstress, MD
Josephine, 12, school, MD
Fred, 8 school, MD
Henrietta, 3, OH
Louisa? , 1, OH

In 1930, this Louis was probably deceased but there are 3 Louis Atzels
listed in OH. Ages 31, 41 and 8. The 2 olders ones were born in OH.
Louis Atzel does not appear in any other year.
