Hello Lewis,
The only Eli Peregoy I find is born VA and living in VA. One listed in the
1850 in Rappahannock cnty and one listed in the 1860 in Rockingham cnty
married to a Louise. The birthdate is about right.

If you think this could be him, I'll send details for the 1860. There is a
marriage record at Ancestry to one Louisa Flowers, however I don't subscribe
so I can't get more information. The marriage information might give his
mother's name.

VIRGINIA , ROCKINGHAM, HARRISONBURG P O
Age: 36, Male, Race: WHITE, Born: VA
Series: M653 Roll: 1379 Page: 663
Although indexed with middle init H, it could be an M, or a totally
different Eli.

Perhaps another lister will have better luck..
