This was the Life Excerpt from the Judgement records of Fredrick County,
Maryland 1748-1765
March Court 1760
A great number of petitions for the keeping of taverns or houses of
entertainment are here omitted because they do not give any more indication
of location than the oft-repeated statement, "Where I now live." An
exception perhaps is the petition of John Gilbert, who petitions the Court
for a license "to keep a publick house of entertainment on Piney Creek in
said County near the Temporary Line and on the road that leads from
Frederick Town to Lancaster." This license was granted by the Court.
