Hello All,
This is in response to Rose's offer in Digest #81. Am just imagining Rose
getting swamped with lookup requests.
I'm pretty sure Maryland genealogists know (maybe not) but those of you from
out of state probably don't. You can call the MD Archives and order birth,
death, marriage certs etc. If you have a date of the event the charge is only
$10 I believe (was last time I ordered). Their toll free number is
1-800-235-4045. The person who answers will refer you to the correct dept.
Then you may get an answering machine. Follow directions and they will return
your call (yes, even out of state) within 24 hrs. but usually sooner.
The snag is if you don't have a date. Then they charge $25/hr for a search.
However they ask you how many hours you want them to search.
I live in MD and only 45 min. from Annapolis and still take advantage of the
phone service although I've never gone for the $25/hr search.
