Do you have any more clues, such as the name of the wife or children of Eli CROWL, a specific place in Maryland, or any other places that he lived?

Canton, Fulton, IL: CROWL, Elias, 55, MD MD MD; wf. Leas {Leah?} 55, PA PA PA; dau. Mary A., 13, IL.

Beaver, Mahoning Co., OH: CROWL, Eli, 46, OH _ _ ; wf. Harriet, 49, OH MD MD; dau. Margaret, 23. In 1870, there were on the census index, Green Twp., Mahoning Co., OH: CROWL, Elias & Harriet, and CROWN, Meriat E., both households on p. 142B. That Eli was probably son of John CROWL & Elizabeth HOUTZ.

There's an online file for the family of Gorge CROWEL (1796 - 1865) & Rebecca, in which there is a descendant Eli (1852 - 1931).

The Elias CROWL of Canton, IL, in 1880 might be Elias (16 Nov. 1824, Carroll Co., MD - 23 May 1900) who m. Leah HENRY, dau/o Jacob & Cath. That Elias & Leah had
