the 1900 census for Westchester Co, NY lists Eugene as being born Feb, 1851, Eugenie born 1857. He was born in Maryland as were his mother and father. She was born in Louisiana as were her parents. He is listed as a bookkeeper.

The Hammets are a very old Maryland family, originally St. Mary's county. If you contact me directly I can search some of my Maryland sources for his background.
