Subject: [MDALLEGA-L] Memorial Day Salute

I would like to second the suggestion of Barbara in WV that we have a
Memorial Day Roll of Honor. I would also like to say that I like the
idea about those who served the country in other ways while the veterans
were in service. The first to come to my mind is my beloved, departed
mother, Virginia (Ginny Jo) Parrish Athey who worked at the Kelly
Springfield Tire Co. in World War II when they were manufacturing
ammunition. The second who comes to mind is my beloved, departed
grandmother, Hazel Snyder(Schneider) Athey and her husband Harry Athey,
who had five sons in service during WWII (got a write-up in the
Cumberland Times). One son, Ivern Athey, was killed in the Battle of the
Bulge.

I have others to add, if the Roll of Honor comes to fruition.

Best regards,

David A.
