I don't know if the they did any mining in the 1800's, but are there any
Newmans or Opels. I know that my granddad Newman worked in mining before
1929 and his son worked in mining after WWII.

Also I don't think they were in the MD mines, but I think the Vaughns may
have mined for a while before seeking their fortune in the south.
