I just checked the Carters listed in the 1850 census and found no
Georges. Though this doesn't prove anything, it helps to support the
idea that the George Carter listed is really George Carder. A look at
the original hand written schedule would probably help to clear up this
question.
MSA has all the court records on microfilm, including wills, land
records, marriages, etc.... At the archives, they have books for each
county, listing all the records in their microfilm library. This
information is also available online. What I usually do is search on
line before going to the archives, to determine the microfilms I want to
research. Sometimes you need to use the microfilm index before you can
locate the roll of film you need.
