Carol.
Thank you for your help on this.
I found the 1860 Agricultural Census at the Oakland Library in Garrett
County. They also had the 1870 Ag Census but was of such poor quality as to
be useless.
Below is a sample of what I found for William Alexander Hamilton, my G
Grandfather, the old coot with the 26 kids, on the 1860 ag census:

A special Agricultural Census was taken in 1860 and lists William A.
Hamilton in the Flintstone District, a farmer with the following: 100 acres
of improved property, 225 acres of unimproved property, Cash value of
property = $600.00, Equipment worth $80.00, 3 horses, 2 milch cows, 2 other
cattle, 26 sheep, 8 swine, Value of livestock = $400.00, 100 bushels of
wheat, 100 bushels of rye, 50 bushels of Indian corn, 25 bushels of oats, 80
pounds of wool, 400 bushels of Irish Potatoes, Value of orchard = $50.00,
200 pounds of butter, 1 ton of hay, Value of animals slaughtered = $50.00.

Would love to see a readable copy of the 1870 one and the 1850 census.
Although a raging civil suit took place over ownership of this farm in 1851,
I believe Wm was living there at that time and never moved.
Connie
