There is an interesting discussion of paternity in the book Genealogical
Evidence by Noel Stevenson. pages 2-7. Basically he says that one can always
be a little more sure of the maternal line because there is usually common
knowlege of the maternal connection... someone was aware of the pregnancy or
attended the birth. With paternity, you have to make some assumptions having
to do with the presence of the husband at the time of conception, his age,
the behavior of the individuals and other factors. Interesting ideas. I'm all
for establishing a matriarchy. Anyone wanna sign up??? : >) BJ
