Ken & All,
When I had originally posted the message
concerning the church in Chaneysville, I had been
told that the church was either LDS or Reformed
LDS.
However, since then I have found several other
references to this, including eyewitness accounts
saying that the church had been German Reformed,
or something along that line. (I was told that
this was one reason that the church did not last,
due to either local dissent over it (not sure
why) or what the deal was exactly.
Ken:
To answer your question, the church no longer
exists. It used to sit on the hill overlooking
Chaneysville, on the right as you are heading
down South Rt.326, into Chaneysville, towards
Flintstone. I was told that the church had been
torn down, and the stones moved elsewhere, where
the stones and wood paneling was used to build
a house. (I'll have to dig some more to find out
where the house was built, and if it still
exists.)
Just as an FYI, there is no cemetery that
is associated with the German Reformed Church.
The only cemeteries in Chaneysville are the
largest one at the Methodist Church, there in
the center of town, and the smaller one on the
west side, next to the Bethel Church.
But, that's all that I know for now. More
soon!
Jerry
