Try the special collections at the Maryland State Archives. I infer this
from what Donna Valley Russell has written about St. Patrick's Catholic
Church of Cumberland in her series on Catholic Marriages in the journal
"Western Maryland Genealogy." Futhermore, there were itinerant ministers
who travelled the territory not covered by parishes boundaries to provide
services. The marriage return was not always filled out on the spot by the
minister nor even filed in a timely manner. In one specific instance the
priest, a friend of the bride and groom, may not have filed the marriage
return at all.
