Connie and All -
I just hung the telephone up from talking with Jerry Twigg. We were
discussing the 6-hour miniseries "FRONTIER HOUSE" that was on MPT this
Monday-Tuesday and Wednesday evening. It was a showing of three families
taken back to the prairie in the year of 1883. The were schooled on what
they would need to know in order to survive. When they were ready to leave,
they were given period clothes, put into a wagon and all conveniences,
including deodorants, shampoos, soaps, medicines, etc. were left behind.
They were completely checked before they were put into their wagon and for
the 2-day trip.
Jerry and I were just talking about how much harder the earliest settlers on
Murley's Branch would have had it because they even had to widen the paths
they used to get to Murley's Branch. If any of you missed the FRONTIER
HOUSE on your Public Television Channel, Jerry says it is going to air again
this coming Saturday straight through from 6pm until 12midnight. It would
be a really good thing to tape...............not ONE TIME did I hear a child
say they were bored, until they got back home into the 21st century. These
children worked their butts off, too. I was really surprised. If you
missed it, you should try to see it on tape.
