Staff Sergeant Robert Allen Washington, of Winchester, Va., was killed in Vietnam, according to word received Sunday by his wife, Mrs. Barbara Jean (Galloway) Washington, formerly of Piedmont, who is residing at present at Fort Knox, Kentucky, were he was stationed prior to being assigned to Vietnam last April.
Sgt. Washington was a tank spotter. He was stationed in Germany for two years from May, 1965. He had also served in Texas.
Besides his wife, he leaves two children, Robert, 7 and Cynthia, 4, all in Fort Knox. Her mother, Mrs. Laura Galloway, her brother, Rodney, and her sisters, Gloria and Paulette, 59 Erin Street, Piedmont, have joined them there. Other relatives in the area are Mrs. Washington's grandmother, Mrs. Effie Shuler, of Cumberland, and her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Coleman, Erin Street, Piedmont.
