I was thinking one way to check might be to find him in the 1910
census. However, the only Humbertson I find in Frostburg in 1910 is Mary
C. Humbertson, a 78-year-old widow living with her daughter and son-in-law
(looks like Allie and George Kraus, but very hard to read) and a
boarder. There are a few other Humbertsons in Allegany Co. (mostly
Cumberland), Azari, Jerome, another Mary and two Yeagle/Yagles. Let me
know if any of these are of interest.
There are also a few Humbersons--Greenberry (60) and Lula (20) in
Frostburg, and some in other parts of Allegany and Garrett
counties. Possibly there is another spelling I haven't thought of?
Who would he have been living with?
I would suggest trying for a death certificate, except that I think the MD
Archives have suspended that service for the time being. But you could
write to the Frostburg University Library and ask MaryJo Price (Special
Collections) at for a copy of his obituary--he must
have had one. She is very helpful (send a donation). You don't mention
the source of your article or the date. I'm assuming it was written some
years after his death?
Good luck!
