Hi everyone,

Just a quick note. I have replied to all specific look-up requests in the
Allegany will index that contained a first and last name. The "all surname"
requests will take a bit longer. (There is one request that may have several
hundred names by the time I am done.)

Please make sure that you have sent your look-up request directly to me at
or it may be missed. Put ALLEGANY WILLS in the subject
line. I subscribe in digest form, and it is more difficult to reply to requests
made only to the list.

Notes of clarification:

1) This is a testator only index, listing only the name of the person who
created the will. Therefore, if your ancestor is a witness, notary, or heir,
they are not listed.
2) It is unclear what the "date" is. It could be the date of the will, or
date recorded. The book does not indicate either way. (If anyone out there has
a copy of an Allegany will, would you help me figure this out by sending your
ancestors full name and the date of the will and date recorded.)
