They send you a copy of the actual death certificate, so yes, definitely
much more information--though it depends somewhat on the year and on who
filled it out As an indication, my g-grandfather's 1926 certificate asked
for the following information:
Full name, sex, race, marital status (single, married, widowed, divorced),
date of birth, age in years, months, and days (or hours and minutes, if
less than a day!), occupation, nature of establishment or business in which
employed (in his case, for example, it was the W Va. Paper and Pulp Co.),
birthplace, father's name, birthplace of father, maiden name of mother,
birthplace of mother, name and address of informant (generally a relative),
date of death, affidavit by doctor as to last time he saw the deceased
alive, exact time of death, cause of death (including line for contributory
or secondary causes), name and address of attending physician, length of
residence ("for hospitals, institutions, transients or recent residents)
and former residence, where disease was contracted if not at place of death
(all these still pertaining only to recent residents), place of burial or
removal, date of burial, and name and address of undertaker.
In my g-grandfather's case, his oldest son was the informant. He did not
know his father's birthday (only month and year), or anything about his own
grandparents. Sigh....
