Bill, along the same lines of Certificate of Birth vs. Birth
Certificates. I don't know exactly what you get if you order
a marriage record from Allegany County, MD, but if you order
a marriage record from Garrett County, MD you get a
Certificate of Marriage; meaning you get a certified copy
that the marriage is on record, not a copy of the marriage
certificate.

You get the date of the marriage, name of bride and groom,
and sometime the name of the person who officiated the
marriage ceremony.

If someone knows how to get a copy of a marriage record in
Garrett County that might mention the names of the brides
parents I would like to know because I am still looking for
the parents of Gracie Myrtle Turner Upole.
