And how would a person know that they were to notifiy SS of a
family members death? And how would we know that we were to get
that last $255? I have never heard of this. I was executor for
my mother, and attorney never said anything like this, or at
least I don't recall hearing it.
I always assumed that the attorneys handling the estates sent
copies of death certs. to ALL agencys that needed to be notified.
hmmmmm well, found out this year that the attorney never
closed the estate bank account when everything was settled, so
there are overdrafts on an empty account (with my name on it )
and was 14 yrs. ago -so maybe he never notified SS either.
