I had a great great grandfather by the name of John Leake who was killed in
a ' fall of coal' in a mine in the Vale Summit ( Pompey Smash ) area of
Allegany County,MD. This occurred in the early 1870s,about 3 years after he
and his family came from England to America. I'm wondering if there would be
a detailed account of the accident and his death in The Frostburg Mining
Journal,or some other publication of that era? Any help is greatly
appreciated.
