I searched the Cumberland Courthouse records for several relatives dating from 1856 through the 1900s and found hardly any. I did find the record of the marriage of my great grandfather at St. Luke's Lutheran Church however. The correctly spelled names should have been Conrad Engelhard Wendroth and Mary Hausman but were recorded there as Conrad Englehardt Weinderoth and Marie Hoffman. Another marriage of friends of Conrad and Mary were recorded at St. Luke's as Ernest Friedrich Fogelpol and Marie Christophenes instead of Ernest Fredrick Vogelpohl and Mary Christopher so don't give up without looking somewhere else in the alphabet. Is it possible that people were married by a pastor and not recorded at the courthouse? Don
