Nope. Both email address (with and without the "L" and
"D") are valid Rootsweb email addresses for lists, a
continuation of how all the RW lists used to be
addressed prior to Mailman becoming the mail server.

There is no getting around subscribing to a list in
order to post a message directly to a list.
