I know it's a lot of work to recreate all of your research. I haven't been
able to help you in the past with your research but here is a step that may
help your recovery efforts.

Go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/search and type *Gerdeman* in the
*Keywords *box.

It returned 870 entries when I tried it.

You'll have to read them all to decide if the information contained is
relevant but at least it's a start.

You may also want to consider opening an online email account (such as
Google's GMail) and periodically saving your database as an attachment.
Google currently accepts up to 10MB files as attachments. That would save
you the expense of the external hard drive at least in the short term.
