Hello Listi:
I am searching for WILLIAMS ancestors who are connected to the
TRACEY family--earlier in Baltimore County and then later in Carroll
County.
I have Elijah WILLIAMS married to Elizabeth/Charlotte TRACEY. I
don't know which given name her's is because I have found it both ways on
records here in Indiana. On Salem WILLIAMS' marriaged certificate, he
lists his mother as Elizabeth, yet in his brother, Nicholas's, obit, she
is listed as Charlotte. On Census records it is Charlotte, so I'm not
sure if someone reported incorrectly or not.
Anyway, two of Elijah's sons, Nicholas Magee & James R. married
SHEAN/SHANE girls. Nicholas m. Eliza E. SHEAN in 1858 in Carroll County,
MD. James R. m. Emma SHEAN in 1891 in Carroll County MD. James very
probably died in MD, because by the time he married Emma, the rest of his
siblings were in and around Huntington County, IN.
Below is a listing of two generations starting with Elijah.
I would like to know who Elijah's Parents are, who his wife's
parents are, marriage date for Elijah etc.
Any help is most appreciated.

FIRST GENERATION

1. Elijah WILLIAMS was born about 1814 in Baltimore County, Maryland.

He was married to Charlotte /Elizabeth TRACEY before 1836. Family listed
on 1850 census as:

Robert 7 M1

Charlotte /Elizabeth TRACEY was born about 1820 in Baltimore County,
Maryland. Elijah WILLIAMS and Charlotte /Elizabeth TRACEY had the
following children:

+2 i. Nicholas Magee WILLIAMS (born on 25 May 1836).
+3 ii. James R. WILLIAMS (born about 1837).
+4 iii. John Thomas WILLIAMS (born on 7 January 1840).
+5 iv. Salem WILLIAMS (born about 1841).
+6 v. Anna WILLIAMS (born about 1842).
+7 vi. Robert WILLIAMS (born about 1843).



SECOND GENERATION

2. Nicholas Magee WILLIAMS was born on 25 May 1836 in Baltimore,
Baltimore County, Maryland.1 He died on 14 March 1910 in Huntington
County, Indiana.2,3 Cause of death is listed as Softening of the Brain
for 6 months with onset of uremia for 4 days. Nicholas was attended by
Dr. W. C. Chafer.

At the time of his death, he was living at 1048 Second Street in
Huntington, Indiana. He was buried on 15 March 1910 in Warren Twp.,
Huntington County, Indiana [Funk's Cemetery].4 There is no marker for
Nicholas's grave. He was a General Laborer in Huntington County,
Indiana. At the time of the 1900 census, Nicholas and Louisa were living
in Huntington City on Matilda Street.

He was married to Eliza E. SHEAN on 28 July 1858 in Carroll County,
Maryland.5 Eliza E. SHEAN1 was born about 1838 in Maryland. She died
about 1873 in Indiana. 1870 Huntington County, Huntington Twp. Indiana
Census lists Nicholas & Eliza with Ellen M. Martha & Sarah A. Nicholas
Magee WILLIAMS and Eliza E. SHEAN had the following children:

9 ii. Martha WILLIAMS.
+10 iii. Sarah A. WILLIAMS.

He was married to Louisa A. SHOEMAKER (daughter of Jacob SHOEMAKER and
Hester Ann SIFERT) in 1875 in Indiana.1 Louisa A. SHOEMAKER was born on
20 March 1856 in Warren Twp., Huntington County, Indiana.1,4 She was
buried about May 1938 in Warren Twp., Huntington County, Indiana [Funk's
Cemetery]. She died on 24 May 1938 in Bowerstown, Huntington County,
Indiana.4 According to the 1900 census, Louisa had given birth to 6
children total, only 3 were still alive at census time. We know that
Adam died, but we don't know about the other two children born to Louisa
and Nicholas. Nicholas Magee WILLIAMS and Louisa A. SHOEMAKER had the
following children:

11 i. Adam A. WILLIAMS was born on 28 August 1878. He was an acrobat,
double-jointed, high-wire walker. He has been described as a dare-devil.
He died on 13 January 1898 in Huntington County, Indiana.2 One source
stated he died of blood poisoning.
+12 ii. Elizebeth A. WILLIAMS (born on 10 December 1882).
+13 iii. Jacob Samuel Christopher WILLIAMS Sr. (born on 24 June 1883).
+14 iv. Arthur Edward WILLIAMS (born on 15 December 1884).

3. James R. WILLIAMS was born about 1837 in Baltimore County, Maryland.

He was married to Emma M SHEAN on 15 April 1891 in Carroll County,
Maryland.

4. John Thomas WILLIAMS was born on 7 January 1840 in Maryland. He died
on 13 April 1898 in Huntington County, Indiana. He was buried in
Huntington County, Indiana [Funk Cemetery].6 Headstone states he was 58
years, 3 months, 6 days.

He was married to Matilda SHEERER/SHUEEY on 1 May 1861 in Carroll County,
Maryland.5 John Thomas WILLIAMS and Matilda SHEERER/SHUEEY had the
following children:

+15 i. Emma L. WILLIAMS (born about 1863).

He was married to Clarissa Ann SHOEMAKER (daughter of Samuel SHOEMAKER
and Catharine ROTE) before 1877 in Indiana. Clarissa Ann SHOEMAKER was
born on 22 March 1857 in Indiana. She died on 23 January 1940 in
Huntington County, Indiana. She was buried in Huntington County, Indiana
[Funk Cemetery].6 Headstone states she was 82 years, 10 months, 1 day.
John Thomas WILLIAMS and Clarissa Ann SHOEMAKER had the following
children:

16 i. Bertha May WILLIAMS was born on 7 March 1877 in Warren Twp.,
Huntington County, Indiana. She died on 13 February 1949 in Huntington
County, Indiana. She was buried in Huntington County, Indiana [Funk
Cemetery].6
17 ii. Anna Catherine WILLIAMS was born in August 1883 in Warren Twp.,
Huntington County, Indiana. She died in 1957 in Warren Twp., Huntington
County, Indiana. She was buried in Huntington County, Indiana [Funk
Cemetery].6
18 iii. Ralph WILLIAMS was born on 20 July 1887 in Warren Twp.,
Huntington County, Indiana. He died on 1 February 1963 in Huntington
County, Indiana. He was buried after 1 February 1963 in Huntington
County, Indiana [Funk Cemetery].6

5. Salem WILLIAMS was born about 1841 in Baltimore County, Maryland. He
was a Saw Mill Engineer in 1882.

He was married to Elizabeth A. E. WAGES (daughter of Luke WAGES Jr. and
Hanna FRIZZLE) on 18 October 1865 in Carroll County, Maryland.5
Elizabeth A. E. WAGES7 was born about 1848 in Baltimore County, Maryland.
She was born on 19 April 1848 in Baltimore County, Maryland. She died
on 28 February 1908. She was buried in South Whitley, Whitley County,
Indiana [Cleveland Twp. Cemetery]. Salem WILLIAMS and Elizabeth A. E.
WAGES had the following children:

20 ii. Iva E. WILLIAMS was born on 31 January 1869 in Indiana. She died

Cemetery]. Headstone says she was 12 yr 11 mo 24 d She died on 21 April
1887 in Huntington County, Indiana.
23 v. Cora WILLIAMS was born about 1876 in Indiana.
24 vi. Walter W. WILLIAMS was born on 3 June 1882 in Indiana. He was
buried in 1887 in South Whitley, Whitley County, Indiana [Cleveland Twp.
Cemetery]. He died on 24 April 1887 in Indiana.

He was married to Mary KEYSER (daughter of Benjamin KEYSER and Elizabeth
SELL) on 19 June 1916 in Huntington, Huntington County, Indiana.8 Mary
KEYSER was born about 1866 in Columbia City, Whitley County, Indiana.

6. Anna WILLIAMS was born about 1842. She died on 18 February 1919 in
Markle, Huntington County, Indiana. She was buried in Markle, Huntington
County, Indiana [Markle Cemetery].

She was married to George W. WATSON on 8 September 1875 in Huntington
County, Indiana. George W. WATSON was born about 1846.6 He died on 29
April 1911 in Markle, Huntington County, Indiana. He was buried after 29
April 1911 in Markle, Huntington County, Indiana [Markle Cemetery].

7. Robert WILLIAMS was born about 1843 in Baltimore County, Maryland.

He was married to Sarah DANIELS on 6 May 1875 in Huntington County,
Indiana.9
