Ok, no problem with the postage. You seemed to be the the longest term and most active person researching the Monmonier line, so you seemed like the logical choice. Although Joe Monmonier did mention emailing a Mark Monmonier who is the son of John Carroll Monmonier, I've never seen him (Mark) post anything.

In the process of tracking down someone researching John Carroll and Mary Virginia, I found both of them in the SSA death index. John was easy, but Mary Virginia was a little tricky because she went by her middle name. This was true even in the letters:
--John C Monmonier B: 29 Jun 1909 D: 13 Aug 1999
--Virginia M Eisenhardt B: 6 Apr 1912 D: 20 Apr 1995
John's entry said "long time/retired railroad worker"
Virginia's last residence was listed as Rockledge, Brevard County, FL

The letters and "stuff" turned up in an antique shop in a little old mill town called Elicott City, just south-southwest of Baltimore. I'm guessing that someone's estate (John Carroll's?) was sold off and this stuff went with it.

I've been researching both my line and my wife's line, so I've got a lot of "plates in the air" so to speak. All of them are from Italy. I''ll reply to you directly to answer this so as to not go too far off topic here.
