Major John Smith, who died 1759 in Calvert County, married Mary Hamilton,
daughter of Dr. John Hamilton. They had five sons, all of whom had the
middle name of Hamilton:
William Hamilton Smith, Alexander Hamilton Smith, Philemon, Gavin Hamilton
Smith, and John Hamilton Smith. I would make a guess that Margaret Hamilton
Smith is connected to this bunch. Either a sister of these men, or a daughter
of one of them. She is not mentioned in her father's will, but that was
written in 1751 and she could have been born later. Daughters don't always
get mentioned anyway.
