Subject: Looking for Murphy, Caroline Co., MD

I am looking for connections to two Murphy women who, in fact, may have been
one person.
Alfred B. Carter (b. March 29, 1841, Maryland; d. March 29, 1911, Denton,
Caroline Co., MD; buried in Concord -- where is this? MD??-DE??)
married on December 19, 1860, in Denton, Caroline County, Maryland (in county
marriage records)
Lillian Ann Murphy (b. December 10, 1839; d. February 26, 1921; buried in
Caroline Co., MD)
Interestingly, however, Alfred's son William George Carter was born near May
25, 1860 (WWI Civilian Draft Registration), several months before his father
married Lillian Ann Murphy.
George's (he was known by his middle name) death certificate list MARY Murphy
(not LILLIAN ANN Murphy) as his mother, and states she was born in Maryland.
I cannot find a marriage record for Mary Murphy and Alfred B. Carter, and, so
far, no death record for her -- which might have been in 1860 if she were
Alfred's first wife and her sister/cousin/unrelated Murphy was his second
spouse.
So, were Mary and Lillian Ann Murphy the same woman?
If they were different women, were they related?
Do you, Donna Murphy, or any of you other Murphy researchers, have any
information about Murphy-Carter unions? Do you think you might be related to
either Mary or Lillian Ann?
Thanks,
Karen Carter
