Ellen Viola Smith, a lifetime resident of Caroline County, died Saturday,
April 21, 2001 at the Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD.

She was born on April 6, 1913 in Jumptown near Ridgely, MD the daughter
of the late Hile Mason Smith and Minnie Alberta Downes Passwaters Smith.
She is preceded in death by her siblings: Clarence Kemp Smith, Mary Thelma
Smith, Emily Kathryn Passwaters and Paul Allen Smith.

She is survived by her neices and nephews: Patricia Ellen Smith James of
Hurricane, WV, Paul Albert Smith, Sr. of Easton, MD, Robert Allen Smith,
Sr. of Easton, MD and Margaret Rose "Peggy" Smith Murphy of Frederica,
DE. She is also survived by: G. Austin Smith of Oxford, MD, Carolyn Louise
James of Raleigh, NC, Debra Susan James Humphries of Charleston, WV, Teri
Lynn Smith Miles Griffith of Denton, MD, Robert Allen Smith, Jr. of Princess
Anne, MD, and Paul Allen Smith, Jr. of Easton, MD.

Services were held Wednesday, April 25, 2001 from the Fleegle-Helfenbein
Funeral Home, Greensboro, MD with interment in the Smith family lot at
Green Mount Cemetery in Hillsboro, MD
