Good morning list,

I want to take this opportunity to pass on some
information relating to genealogy. I have made
several trips to the Cecil County Historical Society
in Elkton, MD. I reside in Odenton, MD, 20 miles
south of Baltimore and make the trip frequently. It
takes about two hours (100 miles one way) ta make the
trip.

They have a wealth of information at CCHS and the
staff is very helpful and bends over backwards to help
people in their research.

There is a ton of information on the shelves, books,
family files, town files, cemetery files, death
notices, census, hard copies of the Cecil Whig and
Democrat plus loads of microfilms. There are large
tables to do you research and spread out your
materials.

I have visited several historical societies in
Maryland and Pennsylvania and I must honestly say that
CCHS is the best. They also have several books on the
shelves for sale. The price of this material is
extremely inexpensive and there is a wealth of
knowledge in the books for research.

I just recently purchased a book "Tombstone
Inscriptions" Districts 7, 8 & 9, Volume I. I have
located all of our ancestors in this book. There are
18 cemeteris with route locations to each one. They
have saved me about 2 years of research within this
book.

If you have not had the opportunity to visit the Cecil
County Historical Society, take the trip. I am sure
you will come away with some information regarding
your family research.

Thank you,

Frank Patnaude
Odenton, MD
