I don't know the date at which it became required that Maryland real estate
be included in estate inventories----I think it was well into the 1800's. As
you know, primogeniture was the law in Maryland in colonial times and
property passed to the first born son unless a will disposed of it
differently. Much of the Cecil Co. property transfers through many
generations without being recorded. The tax lists or rent rolls are the best
guide to who owned what when.
