Ellen:

Thank you for checking these for me. They all fit. I have them all but
Thomas & Mary with daughter Kathrin b. 13 April 1713. I don't know who
they are.

Answers:

Mary "widow of William" is the mother of Catherine, Margaret, Mary,
Susanna, William, Jr., Jan.

Maryland Calendar of Wills

Parsons, Mary, widow,Cecil Co.,20th Dec., 1735;
25th Feb., 1739.
To daus. Margaret and Catherine, entire estate.
Ex.: Thomas Johnson.
Test: Anthony Whitley, Jerh. Larkin, Rachel Larkin.
22. 154.

Peter Lareux and Mary Murrain were listed as next of kin on Mary Parsons
will in 1739.

Carol's question: Who was Mary Murrain? This is where I got the idea that
William and Mary's daughter Mary, might have wed a Murrain.

>Where did you find out about the other children?

Other children listed in the Will of William PARSONS as follows:

Parsons, William, gentleman,Town Point, Cecil Co.,7th Aug., 1716;
18th Sept., 1716.
To wife Mary, ½ dwell. plant. and personalty during life, and 1/3 personal
estate, absolutely.
To son William and hrs., tract bou. of Col. Casparus Aug. Herman. Shd. son
William die without issue, sd. land to pass to 2nd son Jan.
To son Jan and hrs., tract bou. of Ephraim Augustine Herman (son of
Casparus Aug. Herman, afsd.) and containing 100 A. Shd. son Jan die without
issue, his portion to be equally enjoyed by 3 daus., Mary, Margaret and
Catharine and their hrs. Also, shd. both sons, William and Jan die without
issue, their land to be equally divided among the daus. afsd.
To eldest dau., Susannah Linton, personalty under certain conditions, she
having had a portion.
Exs.: Wife Mary, assisted by eldest son William, when he arrives at age of 21.
House, now occupied by Jan Parket, left testator by grandfather in
Branford, Dorchester, to be sold and proceeds divided among said five
children, viz.: Wm., Jan, Mary, Margaret and Catharine, who are residuary
legatees of estate, real and personal.
Test: Henry Jones, Sarah Hues, John Tarvert. 14. 299.

I'll throw out my theory for what it's worth. If anyone can help me prove
or disprove, I will welcome it either way.

There were PARSONS who sailed from England on the ship "Mary & John" and
helped to found Springfield, Massachusetts. These are ancestors of Cornet
Joseph Parsons. Cornet Joseph and other Parsons appear in Cape May Co., NJ
eventually. I feel the Cecil Co. Parsons are people who worked their way
down from New England and settled in Maryland and in NJ. I don't know in
which order [MD first and then NJ or the other way around] or which people
from the family moved from one location to the other. I have never been
able to put my missing Jehu or is brother, William, anywhere but St.
Stephen's birth record. After that it's a mystery. I can find tiny
strings that seem to lead to a tie between the MD, DE and NJ PARSONS and
also the New England names. Still, nothing concrete. Most Parsons
researchers have dug until they reached exhaustion to prove the Cape May
and Cumberland Co, NJ PARSONS connect with the conclusion that they are
different families. I still don't think so. I'm not exhausted yet so I'm
still digging and trying to find how the adjoining counties of Cape May and
Cumberland might be the home for the same Parsons line.

The Parsons in New England were from Dorset, England [at least some of
them] and that is where the Will of William Parsons says there is property
that once belonged to a grandfather.

Is this the William Parsons who appears in NY with the Dutch Laroux or the
Van Bibbers and all of them traveled a similar route south ending up
together in Cecil Co?

There are no census records for Dorset that early but I have found there
are Parish Records of Christenings, Marriages and Burials for the period of
time that my Parsons could have been living in Dorset. Those records are
Blandford Forum 1731-1883 and Blandford St. May 1581-1837. I haven't seen
these records and I don't know how to do that. I know nothing about
English research or how to go about finding out. If anyone on the list is
knowledgeable about this, I'd love to know more.

The name Blandford appears again. This time near Town Point or Cecil Town
as follows:

Source: George Redus -

The following Indenture is filed in the Baltimore County Court House: James
Redus completed the inventory of William Parson's estate January 1744. The
indenture between James Redus and Catherine his wife of Cecil County, Md,
Planter and John Holtham of same county. Said James Redus and his wife sell
for $40.00 all of a tract or parcel which was called Collets Land, Glen's
Delight, now called Blandford, part of tract called Town Point or Cecil
Town. This document was signed by James Redus and his wife Catherine
Parsons, October 5, 1751.

This concludes my information to date. If anyone can help me make sense of
it and solve the Parsons puzzle, I'd be more than grateful to put to rest a
30 or more year search for my Jehu PARSONS. [I still have the feeling Jehu
might have been called John in some records and this makes for even more
confusion. I continue to look for both Jehu and John Parsons who were born
abt 1737.
