According to Peden's "Revolutionary Patriots of Cecil County" both Oliver
and Samuel Bing were privates in Captain John Oglevie's (militia) Company on
25 July 1776. The original source for this is Volume 18 of the Maryland
State Archives "Muster Rolls of Maryland Troops in the American Revolution,
1775 - 1783". Another source of this information (the complete muster roll
of this Company) is found in "Cecil County in the Revolutionary War" page
85. Oliver also signed the Oath of Allegiance, which is considered service
by DAR, etc. although was not military service.
I know it's difficult to find source material when you are far from the area
being researched. Good hunting.
