Hi Carol,

I looked through my Cecil County books and found some information on a David John but it is probably a different man than the one who died in Georgia. These facts place *this* David John in Cecil County between 1748 and 1768.

This David John, planter, wrote a will on 12 August 1768.
To Mary Chambers - best bed and furniture and remainder of personal estate. Also, during her lifetime, one house and garden on my land and cow pasture.
To nephew Jonas [? or James or? Jones] Chambers (son of my sister Mary) - all lands and tenements
To nephew John Ricketts - 60 pounds to be paid to him by the said Jonas Chambers within 12 months of my decease
To nephew William Chambers - 50 pounds to be paid to him by the said Jonas
To niece Agness Black - 50 pounds to be paid to her by the said Jonas
Executor: Jonas Chambers and Joseph Gilpin Esq.

Subject: [MDCECIL] David John b 1712 Delaware, d 1764 Burke Co Ga

While on the John surname, this David John (or Jones) was in Burke Co Ga by
1754 and died there in Nov 1764, about 25 years before my Jonas Chambers of
Cecil Co Md moved to Burke Co Ga with his family in 1789. This David John
was born abt 1723 in Pencader Hundred, New Castle, Del. Ever since I
learned that Jonas Chambers' mother was Mary John, sister of a David John of
Cecil Md, I have wondered if this John family of early Burke Co Ga might
have been related.

This information is from Alan Lerwick's gedcom at Rootsweb Worldconnect:
