Marianne,
I have not followed all of your Thomas John messages, but you can find land
records for all Maryland counties at the Maryland State Archives'
mdlandrec.net. Go to
http://www.msa.md.gov/msa/homepage/html/homepage.html
and click on the link on the left side. You will need to apply for a free
password and probably wait till the next business day for access.
Probably because there are so many records, I have not found it too easy to
find things. I decided to try it and found one record from 1715 on Thomas
John and his wife Rebecca, of the Iron Hills in county of New Castle on
Delaware. I can't figure out exactly what the document is, but it is
related to an earlier land deal involving a John Smith. It starts at Folio
316, Book 2 in the period 1701-1716 for Cecil County.
I downloaded the images (4 pages) and can send them offline if you want. It
is 4 files of 1.3 MB each.

Subject: [MDCECIL] Early Cecil County Deeds
The following deed of my grandfather Thomas John was in Cecil Co., MD in
1739 as the record below shows. In 1739 he was buying land in Prince William
County, Virginia parent county to Fairfax and Loudoun County, Virginia where
I have a copy of his will in 1770.
My question is: Where do I find copies of deeds in Cecil County 1739 and
prior to find out where he lived in Cecil County?
