Dear Listers,
My maternal side of the family comes through the GRAY's and I have
been trying since 1973 to get passed my "brick wall".
James GRAY was born about 1793 in Maryland. His granddaughter told my
mother that his father was one Thomas Gray and his mother was named Mary.
James Gray married a lady named Sarah. According to the 1850 census for
Cecil Co., she was born about 1790 in Maryland.
We know ALL of the children of James and Sarah. They had Andrew (born about 1817 in
Maryland and married a Rebecca.....maybe surname McDowell?), John (born about 1818 in
Pennsylvania and married Lydia A. WYVILL), Susan J (born about 1821 in Pennsylvania and
married Samuel REYNOLDS), William (born about 1826 in Maryland and married a Mary_____),
Samuel Washington (born 29 Dec. 1827 and married Mary Ann Cunningham in Lancaster Co,PA
on 4 March 1847. He died 9 May 1894 in Cecil Co.), Thomas (born about 1832 in Pennsylvania and married an Elizabeth, but called Eliza.
Most of their lives and the lives of their children have been spent in Cecil Co., MD with
a few years spent in Lancaster Co., PA.
I have a info on the children of James and Sarah, and some info on the grandchildren,
but I sure would like to break through this brick wall and find Sarah's maiden name and James'
parents.
Anyone out there related to this family besides me????? :)
