While I was growing up in Wilmington, Elkton was the known as the hot spot for elopements. The B&O had a station in Elk Mills and AMTRACK still runs through Elkton. You may want to look for info on the B&O and the Pennsylvania railroads in Maryland.
Happy hunting!

Subject: [MDCECIL] Honeymoon Express
Folks,
I have a reference to eloping couples traveling from
Philadelphia to Elkton to be married. Reference is
made to the "Honeymoon Express." Is this a mere
literary construction, or was this a railway or
something?
Details?
Thanks,
Vince Summers
