Dear Listers,

One of my sets of ggrandparents "adopted" the illegitimate daughter of

their son and raised her.

From all accounts, everyone in the family knows this info and the child's

birth is even written in our family bible, etc. In the grandmother's obit, it

even states that the child was her "adopted" daughter, but goes on to list her

biological father!

The child was born in 1898. I have tried to find the actual records of

this "adoption" and since I don't believe it was "secretive" I believe it might be

in some court records, giving grandmom and grandpop the official right to

raise the child.

I wanted to attach the "official" papers to the biological father's genealogy,

but have not found them.

Do any of you have any idea in WHICH court such info (for that time frame)

might be found???? Sometimes I have found stuff in Orphans Court, but other

times it has been found in regular court proceedings, but I am not sure WHERE

to look for Cecil.

Any suggestions??????????????

Thanks!!!!

Elaine
