Hello everyone! It's been a looooong time since I've been on Rootsweb, so I
want to throw my info out there again. I am looking for any information on
the following surnames:
William TIMMS/TIMS (b 1805 in MD, d 1878 in DE) married Ann COPES (b 1812 in
MD, d 1878 in DE). I have no info on William's parents, and only know that
Ann's parents were named Robert and Ann. In 1860, William and Ann were
living with their children in Cecilton, MD. Their children included: Thomas
Edward, Samuel Henry (or just Henry), Robert, Martha, and John.
Thomas Edward (b 1834 in DE, d unknown) married Sarah Ann FARROW (b 1840 in
DE, d unknown) in 1857 in Cecil County, MD. I have a copy of the marriage
record, and as of the 1870 census they are still in Cecilton. I can't find
them again until the 1900 census, and then they are living in Kent Co, DE.
Samuel Henry (b 1840 in MD, d 1878) married Caroline HEATH (or PEARCE) (b
1840 in MD, d unknown) in 1862 in Cecil County, MD. I recently found them
in the 1870 census in Kent County, MD, with four children. I found Caroline
in the 1880 census living with Andrew and Catharine PEARCE, and Caroline is
listed as their daughter, so perhaps the name in our family bible was not
HEATH after all (either we couldn't read the writing, or whoever wrote it
was just wrong?). Ultimately, Samuel and Caroline had at least eight
children: Martha, Arthur, Ann/Anna, unnamed male infant, Andrew, Alfred,
Mary, and Sarah. I am trying to match up the names with cemetery listings in
Cecilton.
Robert (b 1850 in MD, d 1889) married Eliza ???? (b 1856 in MD) I am
assuming in MD around 1874. The 1880 census shows them living in Cecilton,
but I can't find Eliza in 1889 probate records or the 1890 census. Their
son Robert Orville (or just Orville) was married and living in Philadelphia
with a child of his own in the 1900 census.
Many of the names and dates came from a family bible (I am hoping my sister
will be able to scan the images soon so I can post online), and I have been
trying to verify those details. Most have been confirmed by census records,
but as you can see, I still have some holes! I have found the cemetery
listings online, and am excited to go and take pictures of the headstones I
can definitely link to my tree, but many of the names I can't be sure of.
I'm hoping the location of some of the graves and/or headstone inscriptions
will make things clearer.
If any of these names link to your family tree, please contact me at
- my Rootsweb info is out of date and I am "locked out"
for three days before I can change the rest. Thanks!
