Linda Reno sent me a correction via email. It was Walter Burch, not Richard who died in
1804.
"I have the DC Wills/Probate Records and it wasn't Richard Burch who died in D.C. in
1804. It was his son, Walter Burch who died there. His will is as follows:
Will of Walter Burch of the City of Washington, Territory of Columbia 1/23/1804;
2/21/1804: Sister, Ann Burch Hand, widow of Washington and sister Teresa Burch Parker,
wife of Henry Parker of Charles Co., all of my right and interest to freehold estate in
Charles Co. about 4 miles below Bryantown, late the estate and inheritance of my
grandfather, Oliver Burch, dec'd. Exec: Sister, Ann Hand. Wit: Samuel Speake, Peter
Lenox, Hezekiah Berry (DC Probate Records, 1801-1815).
I had the middle name of Richard Burch as Neist (that's how it was given in the will of
Oliver Burch), but we all know how terrible some of the handwritten records are."
I am not a Burch descendent but a descendent of William Miles Nevitt, Richard and Mary
Nevitt's grandson. I think that I will let the Burch descendents fight this battle.
