Hi Shirley Platt
Thanks for the information some of which I didn't have. You did mention
Henry Lyon having a daughter Elizabeth who married a Canter. I have the
following in some abstracts and notes I made a long time ago from the
Family History Library.
William Canter, Jr. died 1793, Charles Co., Md. The inventory of his estate
was sworn to 15 June 1793, John R. Adams and Walter Burch were the
appraisers. Thomas Truman Canter, Isaac Canter and John Forbes signed as
next of kin. Elizabeth Canter was his widow and adm. (22 July 1793). Inv.
Charles Co. 1791/97 pp157/158. On the first account Henry Lyon and John Lyon
were sureties for the widow. (Accts 1797-1806 Charles Co. pp 149, 150, 151.
There is more regarding slaves at a later accounting. I am going to stop now
and start digging through what else I have on Canter's and will let you
know. I did copy William Canter's Will that you posted on January 13th along
with who you are researching.
