Hi, Pat,
I have a few pieces of information and some suspicions. This is into the space
in time where I do not have many references. I think that this family of
Thomases was related to the Bowles/Tyer/Courts/Yates group, but there are many
members of that group that I haven't been able to sort out.
First, this abstracts of depositions by James Thomas given in Charles County.
Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin; Summer 1993 Vol 34 No 3; Charles County
Depositions by Robert W. Barnes Continued from vol. 34, no. 2, p. 182 CHLR =
Charles County land records (followed by book:page).
THOMAS, JAMES, age 33, 29 Dec. 1743; CHLR 1741-1743 39:699. Age 39, 25 Feb.
1745/6; CHLR 40:518. Age 55, 2Aug.1765; CHLR P#3 :273. Age 56, 6 March 1757;
CHLR P#3 :273. Age 68, 1 Feb. 1779; CHLR Y#3 :479. Age 68, 1 Nov. 1779; CHLR Y#3
:481.
Next, I think that the wife of George Thomas (d. 1752) was either Rebecca Tyer
or her sister Ann, widow of William Cole, or both. George had a son, Tyer
Thomas. Bowles Tyer Balthorp provided security for the executor of George Thomas
Farr, George Thomas Farr being the nephew of George and ? Thomas. I don't know
exactly who was Bowles Tyer Balthorp.
I have this abstract that may provide some clues. This Susanna Thomas would have
been the wife of William. I have thought that her son "Guyott" Thomas may have
been a mis-reading/writing of the same name read/written as "Conyies" of the
Conyies Clarke who was related to Barthalomew and Thomas Courts.

Accession No. MDHR: 89003-1.
