Morning Maryjo
I saw a message from Linda Reno in the archives that Ann Graves sister of
Virlinda Graves married Francis Rev. Doughty. Ann died 1683 (left an
inventory record) where Parthenia & Sarah were executors.
Could it be that I have a generation off and it was John Hamilton/Hambleton
Sr. that married Elizabeth Harrison and John Hamilton Jr married Elizabeth
Burditt? There was a reference to Richard Harrison's grandson John
Hamilton/Hambleton. If so the pieces would fall in place.

Verlinda Graves was the daughter of Thomas Graves and Catherine Croshaw.
Thomas Graves was born 1580 in Derbyshire, England and died 1635-1636 in
Accomac Co., VA. Catherine Croshaw was born 1596 in Ireland and died after
1636, presumably in Accomac Co., VA. They were married 1610 in Ireland.
It was Ann Graves, Verlinda's sister, who married first, William Cotton
about
July, 1637 (d. 1740 in VA); second, Nathaniel Eaton in 1742 (died by 1657);
and
third, Francis Doughty, 6/8/1657.
Nathaniel Eaton was the first Principal of Harvard University. "Shortly
before
6/19/1638, Nathaniel Eaton, first Master of the College, moved with his
family
from Charlestown into a house in the Yard. By September 17, he had already
assembled and begun teaching the first freshman class of nine. (The Harvard
Guide: hno.harvard.edu/guide/students/stu6.html).
Marriage Contract 6/8/1657 of Rev. Francis Doughty to Ann (Graves) Cotton
Eaton, b. 1620; d. 1683; widow 1st of Rev. William Cotton and second of Rev.
Nathaniel Eaton and dau. of Capt. Thomas and Catherine Graves; removed from
Accomac Co. to Rappahannock Co. and then to Charles Co., MD; he resided in
Mass., NY, and VA; she was his second wife. (Marriages of Some Virginia
Residents, 1607-1800 by Dorothy Wulfeck).
Stone, Verlinda, Charles Co., 3rd Mch., 1674-5; 13th July, 1675. To Benony
Thomas and hrs., 400 A., "St. Verlindas." To dau. -- Doyen, personalty. To
son John, ex., residue of estate, real and personal, at 21 yrs. of age.
Test: Margaret Baghay, Barbarie Kendall, Ann Roughey. 2. 364.
I think the Ann Roughey in Verlinda Stone's will is actually Ann Doughty.

I only have John Hamilton marrying Elizabeth Burdett. She dau.of Thomas
Burdett
(1636/37-1667/1668) and his 2nd wife Verlinda Cotton. Thomas Burdett's 1st
wife was Elizabeth______? Verlinda and Thomas married 9/1/1658.
I have notes that Verlinda was maried 1st to Francis Doughty, 2nd to Thomas
Burdett and 3rd to Richard Boughton (aft. 7/1668).
I have Elizabeth Burdett's siblings as Francis, Parthenia(died 4/4/1698) &
Sarah.
Will check to see if I have any notes on an Elizabeth Harrison, dau. of
Richard
Harrrison and Jane Delahay.
