This statement interests me...the discussion is regarding the end of
1700's---certainly the ties of church and state in VA were as tight as ever. However,
it would be interesting to know the impact the severence with England had on
the Church of England in America (Virginia) at this time.

In Charles County...Catholics were not "legally free" until the US
Constitution was adopted by Maryland.

So, I'm wondering what was meant by that statement.
