Hi, List,
I have a problem about Elizabeth Hinson/Henson/Hanson, the daughter of Randolph
Hanson and Barbara Hatton, as wife of William Marshall and John Fendall, and as
mother of the children. Remember that Randolph's parcel called St John's was
split into thirds. I can't yet get the dates to work to support Elizabeth as
Elizabeth Henson/Hanson.

14 Apr 1719; Recorded at request of Capt. John Fendall: 7 Feb 1718; Indenture
from Samuel Hanson, Gent., to John Fendall, Gent.; for £40; 1/3 part of St.
John's; mentions conveyance from John Fendall and Elizabeth his wife dated 4 Feb
1718; /s/ Sam. Hanson; wit. Walter Story, Geo. Dent; ack. 7 Feb 1718 by Samuel
Hanson

In 1729, John and Elizabeth Fendall "sold" for 5 shillings the entire 800 acre
parcel of St John's to their son in law, Samuel Hanson, Jr., son of Robert. He
was too young to be the Samuel who "traded" land in 1719. Was the Samuel Hanson
who, in 1719, first received from John Fendall 1/3 of St John's for £35, then
seemingly immediately conveyed the same piece of land to John Fendall for £40 of
this same line (Samuel Jr's uncle)? If so, why did no wife of Samuel Hanson in
1719 sign on the sale (the births of his and wife Elizabeth's children are given
in the land records bracketing this date so he was still married )? Why did they
need to "trade" this parcel, usually done to make certain of a clear title?

Any ideas gratefully contemplated!
