Subject: [MDCHARLE] Mary Stone Jones record with "Ann McConchie" 1796
Date: Thu, 14 Jun 2007 19:48:28 -0400
Found a little information to share and would appreciate any help with who the people were on Mary Stone Jones record.
Thank you,
Amanda
I sent off for microfilm for land records of Charles County, MD and found the following record for 1796. From all the information I've seen thus far, I don't find anything for this Ann McConchie.
The record concerned Mary Stone Jones and dispute over late dwelling plantation of Mary Stone deceased. Daniel Jenifer, Henry Barnes and Robert Ferguson were arbitrators chosen by the parties to resolve the dispute. Date of this record was June 20, 1796. (Alexander McConchie in Fauquier buys land from George Dent five months later.)
Names that signed this record were: William McConchie, Jr. (He's of 1810 Chancery Record)
Mary Stone Jones
Margery Fowke
Samuel Hanson of Wm.
her
Ann X McConchie
mark
Samuel Jones
Thos. Meek
The Ann McConchie who was married to John McConchie and then to Robert Hanson had died much earlier. William McConchie, Jr. was married to "Mary". Chancery Record of 1810 and will of William Jr. name her "Mary".
I found the name "Alex. McConkey" on the inventory of Robert Knox for 1785.

Ret: 23 August 1785.
Lott Hackley's daughter, Mildred married James Stigler. Their daughter Elizabeth Stigler married Robert King McConchie. He was grandson of Alexander and Ann McConchie. Robert and Elizabeth McConchie are my direct line.
To further confuse me were the 1810 Censuses for Charles County MD & Fauquier:
US Census Index for 1810:

Alexander J. McConchie (Have no idea of who he goes with? He was named as Alexander Jones McConchie and witness on will of William McConchie, Jr.)
Mary McConchie (This appears to have been wife of William McConchie, Jr. and matches up with the 1810 Chancery Record information as far as I can figure.)

Alexander McConchie (Both Alexander and "Ann" are listed as separate property owners.)
